From a colleague:

Just to warn you I have received an email apparently from H M Revenue & Customs  Subject 2008 – 2009  recalculation tax refund stating one  is due and to complete the form attached to the email. You are then asked for credit card details so the amount can be credited.
I have phoned phoned the tax office and they are aware of this scam and have taken details. The worrying thing is that many of the details on the email are correct and it looks very authentic.
Do NOT respond to the email or form and under any circumstances do not give your credit card details. Inform your tax office immediately

Thanks for the info on another new scam: recalculation tax refund. I am also on a mission with Pakistani scammers. They love to cheat Americans and Canadians.

You know, if these scammers actually took the time to do an honest living, they’d be multi-millionaires by now . I was scammed by E-Digital Stream aka http://www.edigitalstream.com. Thus, I have taken it upon myself to expose these crooks. The problems begin when you sign up on established outsourcing websites like elance, guru, odesk, scriptlance getafreelancer etc. An unsophisticated customer is rip off of their hard earned money in these scams

The best advice I can give you is to alert your fellow citizens to scams whenever you come across them and never disclose your details to anyone you don’t now.
You seem to come from the US or Canada. If your local authority or State/Province has a consumer protection department, always alert them to these things when they occur.
Finally, as our Chief Trading Standards Officer here in Kingston is fond of saying, “If it sounds too good to be true, it probably is!”
