Berrylands Trial begins: signs of things to come?

March 2, 2007

raeburn-2-march-07-3.jpgThe attached photograph was taken outside a house in Raeburn Avenue this morning. It shows the multi-container waste collection system going into action, giving some idea of the street scene created by the need to put so many containers out. These will, of course, all be left behind when emptied, possibly for several hours if residents are out at work.

We are monitoring the Trial carefully as it is obviously the Executive’s intention to roll it out across the Borough sometime fairly soon.

I gather the Council are sending out the rubbish police to inspect what people are leaving out. If they are not doing it correctly then the Council officer knocks on your door to “discuss” it with you.

We have heard this as well. We will press for a less complex system to be adopted across the Borough in 2008.
