Monday 29 April to Saturday 4 May : première performances of nine new plays.

The cornerHOUSE One Act Play Festival returns with another selection of brand new writing. Nine plays mean nine directors and nine casts, and the cornerHOUSE is fully behind this stunning exposure of local writing, directing and acting talent. You can see the results of this intense production period over the six nights of the run; each play gets three performances. We will be giving away twenty copies each of Ian Fleming’sCasino Royale and Sophie Hannah’s little face, courtesy of World Book Night

There will be local authors on hand to sign their books ( not Fleming or Hannah,obviously ! ) and readings from highlights of selected wonder-books.

Tea and coffee and home-made cakes.

Bring surplus books, DVDs to swap in the community library.

All free ( donations appreciated for the refreshments.)

 

Thursday 9 May : Big time comedy from Outside The Box.

Headlining is local resident d,Dominic Holland an internationally renowned comedian and presenter, whose stand up is excellent and TV appearances notable. He is also a writer, both of books and journalism.

Ably supported by the off-beat Edward Aczel and the on-message James Mullinger with Maff Brown slated to MC.

As ever the bill is subject to change; possible adult themes and language mean that this evening is not suitable for under 16s.

Current exhibition :

to 4th May – Walks In The Richmond Area – an exhibition of unframed A4 photographs taken by the Active Environment Group – a branch of the Environment Trust for Richmond upon Thames.The group supports people with disabilities to access the local landscape. 

The photographs have been taken on the group’s various outings in Richmond.

“Last year people visited Kew Gardens, Isabella Plantation, London Wetlands, Bushy Park, Ham Riverside, and went skiffing at the Ditton Skiffing and Punting Club,” said programme coordinator for the Active Environment Nicky Newberry. There are about 60 photos on display.”

 

from 7 May – A creative fund-raising exhibition of arts and crafts by the Fircroft Trust. It brings together a beautiful array of paintings, coasters, jewellery, hand-made organic soaps and other imaginative creations.

The arts and crafts will be on sale at the gala night at the cornerHOUSE in Douglas Road, Surbiton, on Tuesday, May 21 from 7-9pm. You are sure to find something very special and at a great price.Proceeds will go to the Surbiton-based charity which supports adults with mental health problems and/or learning disabilities. 

Exhibitors include the charity’s service users as well as many of its friends and supporters.
