Book in for your free bicycle maintenance course
from RBK Environment
Whether you have continued cycling throughout winter, or put your bike in storage when the clocks went back, it is likely that your trusty steed will now need a little bit of ‘tlc’.
So why not bring it along to one of Kingston Council’s free Bike Maintenance Courses? The courses are run by the Climate Change and Sustainable Travel Group, who have two more sessions planned for Saturday 20 February, and Saturday 13 March. Both are morning sessions and will run from 9am to 1pm in New Malden.
Qualified bike mechanics will show you how to prepare your bike for spring, including how to do a maintenance check. This involves a simple inspection which if done regularly, prolongs the life of your bike and saves you money.
These checks include where to look for signs of wear, adjusting and balancing your brakes, replacing your brake pads, cleaning and lubricating your chain, brake and gear cables and other moving parts on your bike.
You will also be shown how to adjust your bike to make your riding position more comfortable and how to mend a puncture.
