Closure of cashier service at Guildhall 2
After 4.30 on Friday 2nd May people will no longer be able to pay money owed to Kingston Council at the Cashier’s Desk in Guildhall 2. It is closing. New arrangements for making payments are set out below:-
Residents who currently use the Cashiers counter at the Guildhall 2 to pay their council bills (Council Tax, housing rent etc) will still be able to pay in person at:· Any National Westminster Bank by cash or cheque – no fee payable· Customer’s own bank by cash or cheque – no fee payableIn addition the Council has recently implemented: · Any Post Office – by cash or debit card -no fee payable· Any Payzone bill payment outlet – by cash – no fee payable Customers who use the Cashiers counter during March and April will be informed of the closure and the new facilities available. Staff will also be available to assist customers with setting up the new payment method of their choice. In addition separate letters will be sent to all Council Tax customers who use this facility (the largest group of Cashier customers) to advise them of the changes. In addition from Monday 31st March Council Tax staff will provide a customer advice table in the GH2 foyer to assist customers with changes. Customers will also be encouraged to set up a Direct Debit. Nearly 70% of all Kingston’s households pay their Council Tax by direct debit and it is widely acknowledged that it is the most convenient method of payment.
