Action against Tax hike

February 13, 2013

from Cllr. Richard Hudson (Alexandra Ward)

Please rhudsonsign the online petition and pass the link along to others who object to the refusal of RBK to take a Govt grant and hold the tax at the same rate as last year.

The GLA precept has gone down – why the RBK increase?

Kind regards

Editor’s note:- This rise is the work of the Liberal Democrat administration of Kingston and no-one else. If you live in Berrylands Ward, you can vote against the Tax hike by voting Conservative, not Liberal Democrat in the by-election on 28th February!

Surely a below inflation rise is a cut in real terms…..

…and therein lies the whole key to the fiscal ratchet that has plagued us for so long. If it costs more now than it did before, that’s a rise. It only ceases to be one if you build in inflation as a permanent and acceptable phenomenon. The problem is that incomes don’t rise uniformly in tune with ‘inflation’, so many people are actually impoverished by your ‘real terms’ cut.
